Hands on DC is Part of the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area
Washington, DC, Oct. 20, 2006 Hands on DC (HoDC), an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that conducts an annual, citywide work-a-thon to improve and refurbish Washington, DC, public schools, is proud to annouce that for the first time ever HoDC will be participating in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) of the National Capital Area! So if you give to the CFC, please consider giving to HoDC (#7628 in the catalogue).
The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is the annual fundraising drive conducted by Federal employees in their workplace each fall. Last year, Federal employees and military personnel raised $268.5 million through the CFC that benefits thousands of not-for-profit charities. CFC is organized into more than 300 independent geographic campaigns. Their mission is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing all Federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.
Federal workers have participated in a national workplace giving effort for about 40 years. President Kennedy initiated a formal national giving program for Federal workers in 1961. Since then, the CFC has evolved into the nation’s leading workplace giving program. No other annual employee-giving program raises as much money for charity.
